CHARLES STURT UNIVERSITY

Early Entry

There are two Early entry programs available for Charles Sturt University:

  1. Charles Sturt Advantage early offer program – apply online direct to Charles Sturt for up to three courses.  We have a Charles Sturt Advantage zoom workshop for students on completing the application and answers to the questions.  It is on the 18th August from 6:45 – 8pm.  To register visit: https://charlessturt.zoom.us/j/99261085800
  2. Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) –  select this in UAC and complete the information required, and submit.  This allows you to be considered for an early offer for any of the courses in your preference list (as it is on 20th September) – for a range of universities – including Charles Sturt University.  Offers through SRS can be unconditional – i.e. – the offer is yours/you have the place regardless of your ATAR - OR it could be conditional – you will need to reach the required conditional ATAR listed in your offer.  Unconditional offers will be formally made to you in the November early offer round and will be given to your highest preference eligible that round.

Virtual Open Day

CSU have a virtual Open Day running over 4 days.  The 15th, 16th and 17th September, and also Saturday 26th September.  Students, parents and the community can register interest now and then sign up for information sessions, check out videos on courses, speak with academics and current students, as well as residential and support staff.

Campus tours

Charles Sturt are currently hoping to open their campus tour program up again in mid to late August.  This is a great way to see the campus, the facilities, get a feel for the university and meet with a current student to ask any questions you like as they show you around.  Currently you can register your interest in doing a tour and we will send out the information to book, once we confirm that we can go ahead.

Book a one-on-one video chat

You can book a time that suits you best to chat one on one about your study options, plan out the best preference order for you and ask all the questions you want.  You can invite mum and/or dad or a friend to the meeting too.

Medicine

Medicine is new to Charles Sturt in 2021.   Applications are now open for Medicine in UAC.

Check out the Entry Requirement in the link above, which includes the following steps (but in much more detail):

If selected, they will complete the Medical Admission Questionnaire (MAQ)  and sit a Multi-Station Mini Interview.

There is a focus on rural medicine in this degree and will be aiming to take up to 80% of students from regional and rural Australia.

Course Tasters

Engineering: An opportunity to experience this unique degree and get a head start.  These are free to do and can be given as credit if the student is successful in getting into the course later on. www.csu.edu.au/engineering/curriculum

Social Work and Humanities Taster: There is no credit here, but a little taste of what the career area and study is all about.  Not necessarily designed for school leavers, but if someone is interested it might be something they could do.

Pathway options

If your ATAR doesn’t work out for you, remember that is just one way into university.  We have many other solutions for you:

  1. Diploma of General Studies – a one year accredited diploma that prepares you for university study.  It is available on campus and online or mixed mode.  Completion guarantees you into most of our degrees and can give you credit into the course you enter – reducing the length of time and cost of your degree.
  2. Charles Sturt Pathway Program is a free four-subject pathway that prepares you for university study and guarantees you entry into many of our courses and can, in some cases, provide credit into the degree of choice as well.  This is not a formal qualification but guarantees entry to Charles Sturt degrees.  This can be completed on campus, online or a bit of both.
  3. General degrees – if your ATAR is not enough to get into your preferred degree, we have degrees that have a lower ATAR and will allow you to start your study in your chosen area.  Often you can even study the same subjects as your preferred degree.  Once you have successfully completed subjects in this degree, you can apply to transfer after 6 – 12 months into your preferred degree.  These degrees include Bachelor of General Studies(Science), Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Liberal Studies(Arts).
  4. TAFE is another option.  If you have a Certificate III or higher you are eligible for entry to many Charles Sturt degrees.  Some degrees will accept Certificate III, some Certificate IV and some a diploma for entry.  Another benefit can be that if the study is in the same area as the TAFE qualification you may even get credit.  Sometimes a diploma can give up to nine subjects credit – one full year of a degree!
  5. Indigenous Access Program (IAP) is a 5 day program where students are mentored, assessed and given support to prepare for university study.  Successful completion of the program guarantees entry to many Charles Sturt degrees.
