Welcome back to Term 3. We have had a fantastic start with our NAIDOC ceremony and activities. There are a number of wonderful Mission events scheduled for this Term, including the Year 11 retreat – Leadership and Legacy; Shine; Ignite; the Feast of the Assumption; the return of 8:30am Parish Masses at our Chapel; the Farrelly Feast Day Liturgy; Senior Ministry group meetings; opening of the Chapel at lunch times for personal reflections; Year 12 Graduation Mass, and Brunch Club. All of these contribute significantly to our Catholic values and are an integral part of what makes us a Catholic College.National Vocations Awareness Week (NVAW) takes place from 3 - 10 August. This special week coincides with the liturgical celebrations of Australia’s first saint, St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, and the Patron Saint of Priests, Saint John Vianney. NVAW is an annual observance dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life while renewing our prayers and support for those discerning their call within the Church.
In his final message for the World Day of Prayer for Vocations, Pope Francis chose the theme “Pilgrims of Hope: the Gift of Life.” He encouraged us all to respond to God’s love by making our lives a gift of love and service to others. Though young people may sometimes feel uncertain or dismayed about the future, Pope Francis reminded us that the Holy Spirit or the Church never abandons them.
Recently, Pope Leo XIV called upon the Church to “welcome and accompany young people” in their journey of discernment and to encourage them to “accept the invitation of the Church and of Christ the Lord!” (Regina Caeli, 11 May 2025).
During National Vocations Awareness Week, we are invited to reflect on how God is calling each of us to live out our unique vocations and to consider how we can continue to nurture and support vocations within our College and broader community.
Let us journey together with hope and openness, encouraging all to respond generously to their calling.
